So i bought a flowerpot and some silk flowers, came home and added some flower silhouettes and a ribbon and tag and viola! Pretty!  And still candy!

Tag says, “Thanks for helping me grow!”

And the teacher’s comment, “How pretty Logan! And I love to eat this kind of dirt!”  LOL, there’s a reason we like her so much!

But I’ve been so busy I haven’t even had time to take pictures of everything! Seriously!  I really don’t have time to write a whole post right now, but I’ll give a little peak of what I’ve been working on and then hopefully find some time here and there to update yous on the details!

She made this AWESOME drink-holder for her long-time boyfriend. They are both attending University of Wyoming, so this is perfect for him!

It’s super sturdy and slips right on to any belt (average or slightly wider width).  This particular one was made for long-neck bottles. Made of leather and held together with rivets for extra strength, and a more masculine look.

Now I just need to convince her to make me one! 

Not too shabby for $0!

Logan is at an age (4) where he thinks he gets to make all the decisions. So we only let him make the really important ones…like what we’ll all be for Halloween!

He was (and kinda still is) all about Batman, so of course that’s what he chose. And then he picked out superheros for the rest of us to be. Little brother had to be Robin. Daddy was allowed to be either Captain America or Ironman. And Mommy was designated Wonder-Woman! (And her post-pregnancy body was SO NOT rocking the bikini – but we’ll blame that detail on the SD weather!)

It all came from trips to the thrift store to find the right colored fabric, I would guess we spent about $10 for all the supplies we had to buy (SCORE!). Logan’s portion was the most expensive at $5 for an adult batman costume. We also used cardboard and silver, gold, and red duct tape. And Logan got to buy an Ironman toy that straps onto your arm for later play that Kellen used for his costume.

And this picture, will be a favorite of mine for life!

A leprechaun got into our house last night!!!

He wrapped Logan’s rocking chair in green tissue paper, walked across our coffee table with messy feet (puffy paint on glass), and wrapped a couple couch cushions in a green blanket.

He turned our milk green.

He left green beads in Logan’s shoes (cut up old Mardi Gras necklace).

He also stole all the green Easter eggs and put a green skittle in each, then hid them around the living room.

As well as sprinkling green paper confetti all over Logan’s room when he painted Logan’s nose green while he slept.  He also drew a mustache and beard on the bathroom mirror and Logan suspects he used our toilet and forgot to flush too! (Pictures wake Logan up and no one wants to see another person’s bathroom…)

But he did do one helpful thing, he helped Logan draw some ‘go fish’ cards for the homemade set he’s been working on. A self portrait and a rainbow.

And Logan thought is was amazing!!! Success.

I really wanted to get out every green toy the boys own and make it look like he’d played all night too…but Logan was a really light sleeper last night; I very nearly got busted for the green nose!

Look what Logan made!

While I was working on a project today (for a customer, believe it or not!) Logan asked if he could sew on the machine. I said no, that I was busy. And then immediately changed my mind, dropped everything and plopped him on my lap. Score 1 for using a teachable moment in the right moment, that he *might* remember forever

After sewing a straight line on scraps, I decided we needed a project he could keep. So we made a pillow. I worked the foot pedal and he did everything else.

I didn’t have any stuffing but my ever-resourceful boy said we could use dryer lint (ewww…but then again…his project, his ideas…I said okay) but of course I usually throw it out so he discovered we needed a lot more. Fearing he’d loose interest waiting to gather enough, I sacrificed a pillow that had a rip in it.

He stuffed it and then sat in my lap and hand stitched it closed (I did about 3 stitches for demonstration).

And he is SO proud!!! (And Mama is too!!!)

Our valentines to family have typically included handprints, it started the first Valentine’s with Logan and we’ve mostly kept it up. So when I saw a Family Fun magazine idea (yes, that magazine again) that included handprints, I thought we’d use that this year.

Since we make 22 cards for family, I wasn’t too thrilled about tracing and cutting out 44 tiny hands…but my Cameo was! I used my satellite laptop that changes into a tablet and just traced the boys’ hands in the Silhouette program. Cut out as many as my dull blade could handle and only had to cut 12 by hand. Logan was a trooper and glued his hands in position and wrote “I <3 U” on each one, then decided that Mommy should do Blake’s. Go figure. But we think they’re cute and hopefully they arrive tomorrow in all the mailboxes of our loved ones.

But when I looked at the idea again I realized I didn’t want to cut 17 perfect circles with an exacto knife. And I didn’t want to go buy a new paper punch! We’re going for cheap! (while still fun)

Then I remembered my wonderful husband had talked my family into helping him buy me a Silhouette Cameo for Christmas!

So I designed the card and got to cutting.
(This is gibberish unless you own a cameo: I was going to have a link to use my file – but I can’t figure it out right now. Hearts were 3.385″ square, and holes were .97″ in diameter. If you group the shape and duplicate it, you won’t have a problem matching the holes together. If your paper has a “wrong” side, then mirror image half of them. We’re using 1″ diameter balls)

We used construction paper, which is too flimsy to hold the ball like the magazine suggests. So we used two hearts with holes just slightly smaller than the balls (like. 03″ smaller) and sandwiched the ball between, then glued the edges of the heart. Super study! Even when Logan chucked a few (“I wanted to see them bounce!”) they didn’t self-destroy.

I wish I could find a pen that you could read easily, but we’re keeping this cheap, and you can read it if you want. Besides, lets be real, the 4-year-olds aren’t going to read them, they’ll rip them apart and throw their little planet to see how high it bounces!

We had a difficult time finding balls! But as a last-ditch effort (before feeding quarters to a gumball machine) we tried the valentine section at Wal-Mart…Score! 12 for $2!  So really, it was about $4, would have been slightly cheaper to get the store-bought ones, but Logan had fun gluing them and putting the stars all over (glitter puffy paint). I’m calling this a win.

We bought yummy chocolates for his teacher and he made her a special card because he thought she wouldn’t need any more toys   Smart boy!

Both Grandmas spend lots of time in the kitchen so when i saw this, I thought it would be cute, though I’m pretty sure neither will touch a hot pan for fear of ruining them!

(I made this set for my own kitchen – Hey, I want gifts to treasure from my kids too!)

We call one Grandma “Grammie”

We call one Grandma “Bamma” purely because Logan couldn’t pronounce it correctly, and it stuck!

Yep, these were Christmas gifts, but it would work for any gift and with Valentine’s Day in a week, I thought I’d share.  ‘Course if you’re a procrastinator, like me, maybe you can get it done by Grandparent’s Day! On Sep 8th… 

I’m working on an idea I had specifically for Valentine’s Day, but as always, I’m going to be lucky if I get it done by then, let alone posted! And we’re making homemade Valentine’s for Logan’s preschool classmates…but stay tuned, I’ll share sometime!
